With long exposure times, what is recorded is not one moment but a period of time; and that, in principle, makes movement and therefore, performance, an inherent part of this form of practice. Alireza Abbasy uses pinhole cameras for creating images whose process of making is a performance; in fact, he explores the possibility of creating an image that is a performance in itself.

Photography does not have to be seen only in terms of single images. That’s only one way of looking at it. An image that has a clear beginning and an end is not the only thing a photographer can create.
