Behind the Door is a three-year photography project exploring the fleeting connections of modern relationships. Capturing nearly 100 strangers in their rooms, the project delves into desire, vulnerability, and uncertainty in intimate spaces. Participants, found online, invited the photographer into their private rooms under an agreement of anonymity.
These encounters, more emotional experiments than traditional documentation, reflect the ambiguity and instability of quickly formed bonds. The room becomes a dual symbol of intimacy and exposure, carrying the weight of beginnings and endings, desire and loss. Through these images, the photographer not only documents fragile connections but also confronts personal anxieties and emotional disorientation.
The project examines the complexity of queer relationships, transforming ambiguity into a powerful visual language that challenges traditional documentary photography and reflects on intimacy, desire, and emotional boundaries.
