This zine begins from a suspicion: that the words "collective" and "community" are asked to do too much in the present. They are invoked as alternatives to competition, as remedies for institutional failure, as soft names for solidarity, care, collaboration, and survival. Yet the more these words circulate, the less clear it becomes what they actually hold. What kinds of labour are hidden inside them? Who is asked to remain available? When does support become obligation? When does collective practice open another way of working, and when does it simply absorb the burdens that institutions, markets, and infrastructure refuse carry?
