De kaalslag/Trümmerfotografie is a photographic reinterpretation of the so called Trümmerliteratur (rubbleliterature), a german post war movement depicting the social and physical decay of Germany after their capitulation in the second world war. In Oskar’s book, the rawness and ruin of that time is projected onto our present day world. Similarities are revealed/explored.
