Dixit 05: About Conditions

The fifth issue of Dixit, the architectural criticism journal, explores conditions through a dialogue between architects Charlotte Truwant + Dries Rodet and Mio Tsuneyama + Fuminori Nousaku. What defines architectural practice today? Are conditions of use and society self-imposed or externally dictated? If challenges like global warming seem universal, are they truly so? This issue questions whether conditions are absolute or shaped by social, economic, political, and cultural frameworks - and whether accepting them is a choice. Caryatide Editions continues the tradition of critical architectural discourse, engaging with contemporary issues through a socially and politically informed lens. Published three times a year, Dixit invites two contributors per issue to reflect on a new theme. Truwant + Rodet +, founded in 2015 in Basel, explores architecture critically, while Tokyo-based architects Fuminori Nousaku and Mio Tsuneyama focus on contemporary cities and ecosystems.
