In The Derailment of the Usual, Paul Devens(1965, Maastricht) operates as an artist, but also as a curator, lecturer and performer. Thus, alongside himself, he invited artists Lis Rhodes and Heba Y. Amin to join his exhibition.

With this exhibition, Paul Devens (1965, Maastricht) aims to raise awareness of the way in which architecture, sound and technology influence our experience and perception, as well as politically defining our society. The artworks challenge us to look and listen with an open mind to the things we usually take no notice of.

Exploitation from the beginning of the industrial age in Maastricht is made audible in a new sound installation by Devens, Folly / The Derailment of the Usual, 2021 (header image).
