Melon is coming to Eindhoven!

On 13 September, we’re bringing Melon #3 to NOR for an afternoon of conversation with our contributor Anastasia Eggers.

In 2025, the EU recommended that every household be prepared to sustain itself for at least 72 hours in the event of disasters and crises, and equipped with essentials. However, crises unfold not merely through military conflicts or natural catastrophes, but also quietly infiltrate our everyday life. Food itself can become entangled in geopolitical struggles.

This issue of Melon explores the changing meanings and conditions of food in an era of uncertainty and crisis. How might we rethink preparedness beyond emergency stockpiles and survival strategies? What alternative forms of resilience can emerge through ecological awareness, collective practices, and our relationships with the environments around us?

At NOR, Melon editor Yen-Ting Kuan will share the ideas and research behind our latest issue, together with Anastasia Eggers, whose artistic practice explores food, agricultural rituals, vulnerable ecologies, and geopolitics. They will discuss how food can become a way of understanding crisis and of imagining different ways of living through uncertainty.
