Ubiscribe
Ubiscribe is a book on on-line and off-line publishing. The first issue of this experimentally composed and edited book contains essays, project descriptions, links, practice instances and anecdotes on personal publishing through the Internet and new media. "This is a time when many use multi-medial and multi-disciplinary chronicles such as weblogs, blogs, vlogs and photologs for various purposes. Ubiscribe explores the intrinsic potential and technological limits of present-day publishing. How do collaborations come about in on-line environments? How are they kept up? Can they be productive? The project investigates users, their ideas, communication devices and production channels." In 2006 Arie Altena was part of the Ubiscribe research team at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. As part of our research -- Jouke Kleerebezem, Sandra Fauconier, Claudia Hardi, Inga Zimprich and Altena, published a book Ubiscribe, recent changes, Pervasive, Personal, Participatory, for which they collaboratively collected the material in less than a month time on a wiki. This material was made into a book that was publish as a POD.
