Walking The Vacuum Landscape

Walking_The Vacuum Landscape explores how archival images reveal histories of colonialism; at the same time, archive as an institution withholds absent and suppressed narratives - creating a vacuumed space between categorization, realities of displacement and postcolonial subjectivity.

The book holds a curated selection of archival and landscape photographs accompanied by texts written Lo Yuen Ming, Chun Yao Lin and Anitha Silvia. With the inquiry of historical landscape of Indonesia, it begins with entering archives across the Netherlands and continues towards Surabaya, East Java, and more… The Vacuum Landscape collective is continuing to engage with the question of positioning oneself in archival research and building solidarity across post-colonial struggles.
